"Leaving on a jet plane; don't know when we'll be back again.."

It’s hard to believe 10 years ago today Jacob and I boarded a Turkish Airliner headed for Istanbul with only our back packs and hearts full of dreams for what God was going to do in this next year.
We didn’t necessarily know where we were going, how long we’d be gone, who we would be meeting up with but our we knew that God had led us on this adventure to sell as much as we could, quit our jobs and step into this new world of completely letting go of control our lives and asking God to give us opportunity to every day share His message of life in Him.
Our hearts were heavy to be saying goodbye to the life we knew and family and friends around us, but we wanted more than anything to step into this new way of life believing that God would lead us for every step of the way.
Our friend Amy who we had only talked by phone met us at the airport and helped start our incredible journey.
The first few days we explored the city getting used to a world that was so different from our Texas life we had left behind. Here’s some pictures from those first few days.
So now I’m sitting here 10 years later and almost 35 weeks pregnant with baby #4 living in Johannesburg, South Africa as missionaries with Impact Africa. We never would have thought that 10 years ago our decision to step out in faith would have led us here but we are so thankful for the lessons learned to have prepared us to be here. One of the things we learned is that we are supposed to live our lives as sojourners on this earth...making the most of every opportunity!
